Hello again everyone. So after having tried every other major Sim, I finally decided to get rFactor 2. I had held off because the car selection seemed to miss my driving style a bit, but after talking to you all here, and taking a closer look, I figured it was worth a shot.Having test driven a few cars, I'm so stoked.
It's clearly got the best physics and the most no-nonsense setup to jump into a race. My only issue is a seeming lack of mods. I've checked all the usual suspects like Race Department and the like, and googled my ass off, but there just doesn't seem to be anything (or very little) beyond what is downloadable right from the website. Coming from a lot of time spent in AC, where I've found nearly 100 great mods, I feel a bit shortchanged. Is there some secret place I can't find with RF2 mods, or has the modding community just not moved from RF1 to RF2 yet? Is it something that is slowly gaining momentum, and I'm just here early, or should I plan on being stuck with what's available out of the box? (Also, just to be clear, RF1 mods don't work in RF2, correct?)I'm primarily looking for high end street cars, namely any Aston Martins, McLaren P1, McLaren F1, La Ferrari, Ferrari 458, etc. Those newer gen cars that are common in sims like AC and pCars, and even in iRacing and R3E.
GT Versions of these cars are ok too, but if I had it my way it would be road versions.I do enjoy the current selection, but it's just not satisfying my thirst as much as I'd like. Because of how obviously excellent the physics are, and everything else with RF2, I'd like to move into it as my 'every day' sim, which AC currently is. I can't do that unless I can get a good car selection together though. Thanks in advance for your input! Feel free to ask me anything if I was too vague.PS: Is there a way to download other HUD's for RF2? The sim itself seems to offer 4 or 5 but it feels like something modders would be able to add to.PSS: Is there a Nordschliefe RF2 mod out there? That's a big deal for me.
I tend to hotlap the green hill any time I want to drive but not actually race. You're not going to find many road cars in RF2 that are high quality. The only ones that come to mind are the ones by ISI, so the Corvette and the NSX. Hopefully there's more on the way. There's a lot of circuit content, but like with AC (which is awful for this IMO) varying in quality and accuracy. I recommend circuits created by Feels3 and VirtuaLM if you don't have those already. A lot of leagues have tracks that are high quality, but it's hard to find them in wide circulation. There are HUDs available in the ISI forums, and probably more floating around too.The real fact is, RF2 is an unbelieveably accurate simulation and ISI have done a great job, but the tire model especially is very unapproachable for modders because of its fidelity, and unlike AC, there's actually effort involved in bringing old circuits over to it.
